Wonderful Weekend with Wingerts

This past weekend, Bible Baptist, the church Chad grew up in, had a 50th anniversary celebration. We went up for the whole weekend. On Friday night, there was a potluck and then a variety show. There were a lot of funny acts, and even Claire thought it was terrific. Probably my favorite was a former pastor who played the accordian. It was fun to hear/see some great accordian playing (I don't know if I ever have before). They even played a recording of him back in the 50's ? doing an imitation of a train on the accordian-- sounded very realistic.

Above, the youth pastor doing a "little people" spoof of the lead pastor's morning routine. Claire just couldn't figure this out, whose arms were whose, etc. Very funny. Below, their "Kenny G", who was an excellent soprano sax player with a long wig.

And this is what happens when we give Katie the camera...

Grandma reads to the kids in her bed.

Saturday morning after a wonderful pancake breakfast, we headed to downtown Shiremanstown for the big parade. Hah! Actually, what you're looking at below is probably about 1/20th of the whole parade. Maybe more. :) It lasted about 3-5 min. And gave us a good laugh when, after it was done, the girls were incredulous-- "That was all??"

And here's Micah playing with one of Uncle Jer's previous science projects-- had to do with probability or something, I think. Uses marbles and Micah thought it was "so cool!"

And here's Micah in their front yard.

On Sat pm, Chad went to an expensive banquet at a hotel-- more to celebrate the church's anniversary. Sun morning there was a 2 1/2 hour service-- funny to think they could keep it under the time limits when they asked several former pastors to speak. :)

  1. Michelle, when you were young at JBC in the old building we used to have accordion players. In fact, Pastor Walcott played the accordion.
