1/2 day

Yes, there's school today-- just a half day-- but that's more than most schools around here. Grace felt pushed to do it so they could finish high school exams before Chr break. I still had a couple people cancel piano lessons today because of the roads-- even tho we would have no trouble getting out.

Girls have had so much fun playing in it. Micah has been out a couple times, too. I'm sure he'd be happy to go more, but it takes such a huge effort from ME to get him out and then back in again. :)

Right now, Micah's busily playing with 2 empty cereal boxes and 2 lunchboxes. A box is "bahk" and lunchbox is "backback" (like backpack). At least he's happy! He has started with a runny nose and some crankiness with his eyeteeth coming in.

After my afternoon lessons, we're leaving for PA. Will be there til sometime Thur. We asked Jessica and her kids over for Thur pm, so we'd better not stay in PA too late! Christmas for them might seem a little lonely with Jeff in Afghanistan.

Leave Sat am for MI. The Long Ride. Claire's been dreading it for months already. Nice that K and J look forward to it.

Snow Aftermath

No school today. Some schools in MD just had a delay, but we only had a 1/2 day scheduled anyway. Schools in WV were cancelled.

Chad had to get lots done, so he's been hard at work. Lots to do if he's going to be gone from Wed thru Jan 2.

I needed to do a bit of shopping yet. Took all 4 kids. Not preferable, but it wasn't miserable. Not quite. Micah was excellent. The girls were the problem. :)

Very successful shopping trip-- the actual shopping was easy. If it weren't for the awful snow/slush/packed/bumpy surface on Grade Rd and the HUGE amount of shoppers and traffic (making up for missing Sat, I guess) and the somewhat cranky kids, it would have been pleasant. :)

I used to have 6 lessons on Mondays. One was Bunny, who had a stroke a couple months ago-- she's supposed to return in Jan. Another one switched to tomorrow. Two cancelled altogether. All I have left is 2 more this evening. Cake day.

Walking in the Wingert Wonderland! :)

The big snowstorm of 2009! About 17-20 inches fell between 10pm on Fri and late Sat pm. We have had so much fun with it! Last year, we didn't get one single snowfall that the girls could play in, but this one is making up for that!

Jenna's trying to teach Micah to eat snow. He wasn't into that, but he soon really enjoyed playing with the snow!

Our neighbor, Taylor, came over-- she's in the middle. Claire on the left, Katie on the right.

Mom, Micah's already using the hat you made!

Katie's up in her tree!

Chad made a great maze for the kids. Micah liked it because he could actually walk where the snow had been shoveled.
Chad did a LOT of shoveling on our long driveway!

All the girls, including Taylor, helped me do some Christmas baking. We wanted to give goodies to teachers at church and school. Now, there's no church today, tho. And maybe no school this week. Hmmm. Guess we'll have to eat it all! :)

P.S. Thanks to Eric and Lea Anne for helping us get this started. Hope it works out-- we'll be doing this instead of email updates. Let us know if you have questions, and then we'll pass the questions on to E and LA. :)
